Setup fails and displays: Cannot start main setup program! (CreateProcess() returned error code 0x000000C1H)

This problem is related to Microsoft's Package and Deployment Wizard which is used by ScanTech Imaging.

This problem usually occurs after a previous installation attempt of the e/Forms program failed. To solve it, please follow these steps:

1. On your computer, search for the following files in the temporary folder Windows uses.  The files are stored there for the installation process.  This value is stored in an environment variable so the location can be anywhere on your computer.  However it is generally in the user's profile section of the computer.  On a Windows XP computer this normally is C:\Documents and Settings\[user name]\Local Settings\Temp.


Note: * represents wildcard/asterisk.
Or you can click on Start > Search > For Files or Folders to find those files and delete them.

2. Run the Setup again.
