First turn off the User Account Control Settings
1. Go to Start
2. In the box that says Search programs and files enter in
UAC
3. Select Change User Account Control settings
4. This will open up the User Account Control Settings window
5. Move the slider to Never notify, to the very bottom
6. This will require a reboot, then follow the steps below
Give full permissions to e/Forms installation folder.
1. Go to Start
2. Select Computer
3. Navigate to the Program Files folder. C:\Program Files or C:\Program
Files (x86)
4. Highlight the folder name.
Normally that location would be C:\Program Files\ScanTech eForms Online or C:\Program Files\ScanTech FreeForms Online.
Alternatively if you have a Program Files (x86) folder the path would be, C:\Program
Files (x86)\ScanTech eForms Online or C:\Program Files (x86)\ScanTech FreeForms Online
If you have a customized version of e/Forms highlight that folder in either
the Program Files or Program Files (x86) folder.
5. Right click once the folder has been selected
6. Select Properties
7. Click on the Security tab
8. Click on the Advanced button
9. Click the Change Permissions button
10. A window will appear stating Advanced Settings that lists Permission
entries showing only the Permissions tab
11. Highlight the item that states Users (computer name).
The computer name will be whatever your computer is called. The
permissions will be Read & Execute
12. Click Edit
13. A window will appear with an Object tab window and a list of
checkboxes.
14. Click on Full Control under the Allow column. All the checkboxes
will be selected.
15. Click OK
16. Now there should be 2 items for Users (computer name).
One should state Full Control under Permissions.
17. Click on OK to close all the windows that opened up.
Create a file called default.fdf
1. Click Start
2. In the box that says Search programs and files enter in notepad
3. Select notepad and a blank notepad document will open
4. Go to File > Save.
5. In filename textbox enter in, default.fdf
6. On the left click on Computer > (C:) > Windows.
Note: That before the (C:) there will be a name, it could be Local Disk,
Data or any other wording but should be followed by (C:)
7. Click on the Save button
Give
Permissions on the default.fdf file
Similar
to previously for setting the permissions on the installation folder.
1. Go to Start
2. Select Computer
3. Navigate to C:\Windows
4. Find the file default.fdf, highlight it and right click
Follow
the steps 6 - 17 from the above to set the permissions on this file
Download a file to get data to Import onto a form
Click on this link
to download the file required to enable the Import button.
Revert the User Account Control Settings
1. Go to Start
2. In the box that says Search programs and files enter in
UAC
3. Select Change User Account Control settings
4. This will open up the User Account Control Settings window
5. Move the slider to Default setting, second from the top. If you
want different settings select the option you want.
6. This will require a reboot.
